Life Insurance Cover with Epilepsy – For Epileptic People
Epilepsy is unlikely to prevent an individual from having life insurance but depending on the severity of the condition it could affect the price.
In many cases however, epileptic people can obtain life insurance at standard prices.
An individual who suffered from childhood epilepsy but has not experienced an attack for several years should have no trouble getting life insurance.
Ongoing epilepsy sufferers may have a life cover application postponed until there have been no epileptic attacks for a period of six months but insurers view each case differently.
Petit Mal is less of a concern to insurance companies than Grand Mal and most Petit Mal sufferers who have not had recent attacks should be able to set up life insurance without any difficulty.
Grand Mal sufferers should also be able to obtain life cover but if symptoms are ongoing then a ‘loading’ may be applied to the price.
Life insurance can be relatively inexpensive and so even with a loading the cost doesn’t have to be high.
Because insurance companies all look at different ailments in different ways it would make sense to either discuss your condition with the insurance underwriters where possible or speak to an independent adviser who can do that for you.
